A crown is a type of artificial tooth that fits over a damaged tooth in dentistry. They are custom-made to fit your smile & are built to last. There are a number of conditions that require crowns to save your teeth. It is possible that you will need a crown after undergoing certain dental treatments. It can be difficult and lengthy to get a crown in many dental practices. In most cases, you will have to come in for two appointments: one to prepare your tooth and take an impression to be sent to the lab, and the other to place your permanent crown. During a typical dental crown appointment, the dentist will perform any necessary fillings or root canals before preparing your tooth for the crown. During the preparation process, your tooth will be filed down so the crown can fit over it. After it is prepared, a mould of your teeth will be taken to make a sculpture that fits comfortably. A regular crown procedure involves biting into a tray of goop for several minutes so the dentist can get an accurate impression of your teeth. You may have to repeat this process several times.
